That Purple THING!!!

Grrr!!!! I'm afraid this weeks chapter of Hourglass will be a little late arriving ... well, truth be told, I've not even made a start yet. RL has conspired to keep me from my tryst with the angst bunny and I've been pretty much buried up to my neck in calamine lotion and Barney the Blinkin' Dinosaur. Unfortunately, this combination doesn't inspire me - whoever was the sadist who created that purple monster with the frozen grin???? What were they thinking???!!! I've been housebound this week - Tigger's come down with chicken pox and I've been in quarantine with him. I've been too knackered to write and plauged with Wholesome Barney Sentiments. Not good. :( I hope to write more next week - well, that's if my daughter doesn't get ill too ... which is only a matter of time, apparantly. Not looking forward to that AT ALL - N with itches and more Barney???!!!!

Oh dear. That does not sound pleasant at all, precious. Do try to find moments to be good to yourself in spite of all. I recommend a strong dose of Tolkien-related entertainments, particularly those starring Elijah Wood, to counteract the purple menace.

The only thing that makes Barney even remotely bearable to me is the pic of Elijah with the small stuffed Barney. :)

I live just down the road from where Barney is/was filmed, and whenever it is mentioned, I just want to apologize on behalf of my fellow Texans. Oh, the shame.

Barney is of the devil. I am totally convinced. There are likely tons of subliminal messages in those annoying songs...Hope everyone's all better soon!(((Igraine)))

Oh, my. I feel your pain, I've felt your pain. When my kids had the chicken 'pops' not only did we have Barney, but The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers! And Care Bears! And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! (Well, to be perfectly honest, I kinda' enjoyed them). Just remember, a child can only contract this disease once in their lives. Once it has passed, it's over forever. Of course, you will have years of colds and flu and the thousand other greebly things one person can catch over the course of a school career. Can't you just say Barney had to go out of town, and secretly bury them all in the backyard?BOh, yeah. We shall be patient while you tend to yours.

You see - even Elijah was sucked in! I tell you, it's addictive. Once they've seen it they need it - regularly and repeatedly. Unfortunately the tape I have contains just the one episode so the songs are starting to infiltrate my brain. I even found myself singing one to myself yesterday. :OA small, stuffed Barney ... sounds terrifying. But yes, I'm sure EW could make anything seem bearable. :)

(((Hewene)))Things are improving. Now he's more baby than spot, rather than the other way round. :)Yes, I agree about those subliminal messages - I was once told that people have used repeated playings of the theme tune as a way of torturing prisoners. This particular episode also features a horrific little girl dinosaur that makes Barney look tame.

AHHHH Care Bears!!!! :ONow that is scary! It wasn't the full length movie, was it?Yes, it's good that it's done and out of the way. Greebly? :DWorse still...my daughter came home from a sale the other day with the Barbie Annual 1995. Now that is frightening! Some of the sentiments expressed are so shallow and sickening it's painful to read. Unfortunately N insists on having it as bedtime reading. God knows what view of life it's impressing on her - as my friend said, when looking at it in disgust - the best things in life aren't pretty. :)
